Cellular equipment.

Benefits:

Cellular-based communications have the benefit of being extremely mobile, offer in-motion use, and are overall less expensive than satellite-based service.  Many times, important business transactions can be completed while in-route, and cellular-based EVDO modems make this easy.  While there are areas where cellular service is unavailable, as a general rule you can expect to have at least 1xRTT (dial-up speed) pretty much anywhere and EVDO Rev0 and RevA markets are expanding everyday offering up to 1.5Mbps/400Kbps speeds.  Due to the economical nature of cellular-based service, many businesses that formerly were unwilling to invest in mobile data equipment are now finding it advantageous to do so.  If your business relies on instant transactions, then cellular-based systems could be your best option.

Satellite equipment.

Benefits:

Communication is the lifeblood of any business, and satellite-based internet ensures that your life-line will stay intact.  No matter what type of business you have, if you absolutely MUST have internet connectivity no matter where you go, then satellite-internet will give you that.  Also, satellite provides an excellent redundant system for your terrestrial lines.  Businesses that have satellite service are less affected by natural disasters or infrastructure downtime.  There are three mobile satellite systems that businesses typically inquire about.  For more options, look at the Government section.

GPS Vehicle tracking equipment.

Benefits:

Two of the biggest expenses to any business, but especially to mobile or service related businesses, are manpower and fuel.  Having the ability to keep track of your employees as well as to monitor their driving habits can save $1,000's of dollars.

For example.  Let's assume that you have a fleet of 5 company vehicles that you use for deliveries, and these 5 vehicles average 20 mpg.  If each of these vehicles drives an extra 25 miles per day, each one is wasting 6.25 gallons of fuel each week.  Multiplied by 52 weeks and then by 5 vehicles, that equals 1,625 extra gallons of fuel each year.  At $3.50 per gallon, that is $5,687 annually.  In addition to that, if the driver is loitering or wasting time, you have to figure that expense as well.  Even a $10 per hour employee will cost you $15 per hour after taxes, insurance, etc.  If each driver wastes 30 minutes per day (not that hard to do), that is 2.5 hours per week, times 52 weeks, times5 drivers, equals 650 man hours times $15 per hour.  That equals $9,750 per year in unproductive labor costs.

A vehicle tracking system will show you areas where money wasting time and fuel use are occurring.  Using the above example, with just 5 vehicles, you could potentially save over $15,000 per year by increasing your awareness of your employee driving habits.  A full featured GPS system with a 2-minute increment reporting schedule for all 5 vehicles would cost $2,675 for an overall savings of $12,762 in the 1st year.

You can see why this is such a popular product.
